IBM spent four years developing Watson and they think it can earn $16 billion by 2015 from business data analysis. Watson has the power of 6,000 desktop computers.

At this time, Watson is analyzing Citigroup clients’ financial data and cancer data for WellPoint, the second biggest health insurer in the U.S. At this time, Watson is learning oncology to assist WellPoint by late 2013. A doctor and a patient will access Watson through a secured line to find answers to medical conditions. Watson uses documents, Web sites, and books at a speed of 66 million pages a second to answer questions and consumes lot of energy to do so. Researchers at IBM are trying to add image-recognition capability such as reviewing an X-ray to Watson. The IBM wants to expand into smartphone arena especially on the corporate world. The biggest problem using Watson to help smartphones is the power consumption. Watson uses 80,000 watts an hour. The new 2.0 version intend to cut down the power consumption.
