3 Tips for a more Usable E-Commerce Site

Posted on March 19, 2015

Having an E-commerce site is quite competitive as business rivals might be just a click away. With the large variety of online stores available to customers, it becomes important to engage buyers quickly and gain their trust. This can be achieved through secure and user-friendly designs.

  1. Call To Action & Sign-Up Buttons

Sign-up forms need to be kept to the essentials. Lengthy forms might constitute of a turn off factor for potential customers. Sometimes, just asking for an email address and a password would be sufficient for the user to create an account. Call-to-action buttons would also need to be easily visible as they would be guiding your users to complete the action you wish.

  1. Buying without registering

Similar to the call to action and sign-up buttons, users would also need to be able to complete a purchase without having to register or sign-up. The user can then be prompted to sign up after completing the purchase. This method may guarantee customer retention, especially if the first-time buy was a pleasant and fast experience.

  1. Search Function

A proper search functionality is important in helping customers find the products that they are looking for. It might be frustrating on the part of the user to have to spend a considerable amount of time in looking for the product that they wish to purchase. It is therefore quite important for e-commerce sites to have refined categories in order to simplify the search process. Another important factor is to make the search box visible and easy to use.

Tip of the Day

Hold volunteer positions in organizations. This is a great way to stay visible and give back to groups that have helped you.
